A RIDE TO THE LAND OF CAMELS - Part 2

Travelling with friends makes you realise two things for sure one, people are very different than what you feel they are in the limited amount of time you spend with them at college, and second a trip bonds you for life with the idiots you made such amazing memories with....

So continuing where i left off ..... we boarded the intercity express from agra to ajmer at 5 in the morning, this journey was a long one and also a tiring one since, we were not exactly mentally prepared  for the exhaustion we felt ,sitting crammed in the the chair car with zero sight of breakfast, our moods lit up when we reached jaisalmer station and all of a sudden the crowd disappeared, we sprang from our seats to stretch our legs and bought tea from the tea vendors refreshed ourselves and braced ourselves for the 2 hours of journey left, our professors made the mood light and kept us motivated all along, while they themselves were more tired than us, it made me realise that when you find like minded people with you, you also find a family away from your own. We reached ajmer around 3 in the afternoon.

Our relived flock rushed for the station exit, but since everyone was tired our professor went ahead to look for the exit ,we sat in the waiting area for awhile, some of us used the restrooms while the others played with the trolley bags as an idea to stretch our legs, after a short while we went to the railway canteen had coffee and tea, called up our homes and then proceeded to the exit, upon reaching the exit we booked two taxis to Pushkar. Pushkar is a small town located at a distance of  around 1 hour from ajmer, the journey was just   surreal, the uphill drive of circling roads surrounded by cliffs on both sides filled with greenery of all kinds, and such clean spaces, the lake of ajmer city and the dargah, we all just could not stop marvelling at the beauty that god had created, the view in itself was enough to energise all of us again, it is truly said that the journey is always a thousand times more beautiful than the actual destination, everybody was awestruck and just utterly grateful to have witnessed the beautiful journey to Pushkar.  we reached our hotel an hour later.

Our hotel was named the Everest villa, now the best part about pushkar and its hotels is that you get to meet fellow travellers talk to them and learn from them too, these spaces are well developed in every sense to allow maximum relaxation, and enjoyment, well our hotel had a surrounding view of the magnificent aravali hills, we reached by 4 in the evening, ordered some food ate it and all of us relaxed, some of us slept, some of us sat by the pool side, in the hammock, by evening we went for our first visit to the mela ground, the terrain of pushkar is highly uneven and can have even the fittest of people tired and gasping for air really soon, but once you reach the mela grounds it is a sight to behold. Our professor showed us around a bit and gave us a few tricks and tips to help us for the next three days.
we walked around till 9 pm and then walked back to the hotel while playing antakshari.
and spent the night talking, and sharing stories. the next morning we started off early around 6 am we went around and saw the place where the camels stayed and were fed.

we went around the mela ground and did our photography for like 2 or 3 hours after which we went back to the hotel to freshen up have breakfast and go about it again, we saw the famous pushkar temple, saw the pushkar lake, listened to rajasthani music and relished on the rajasthani cuisine, it was nothing less than three days of complete bliss, the fair was simple enough ,but the locals and the kind of things they sold were too odd for the eyes to believe at times, there was organic weed, hookahs etc at one place, while the other sold a 7 ft long wrap around ghaghra, there was a shop which sold a skull necklace, while one shop sold camel poop paper and camel milk soap

we got a chance to be a part of the record making event of the largest group of locals performing ghoomar ( a rajasthani folk dance ) in a public place. which was highly colorful and beautifully synchronised, we also saw the different forms of horses being displayed, which was the other cattle being sold at the fair, we also saw the largest buffalo in the world who holds the Guinness book of world record for being the biggest and heaviest buffalo, we found a nice restaurant for when we craved north Indian flavours , we had a day at the hotel pool where we spent  time playing in the water, we took group pictures and danced and sang our nights together, from sunrise to sunset it was one helluva ride of a trip where we toiled our days in search of great pictures, and spent our nights singing and dancing and thats how the three days at pushkar flew away. on the morning of the fourth day we left pushkar but also left a part of ourselves there and tugged along loads of memories and photographs.
