"Mythological Monolougues" A Poetic Genius!!

Image
What attracted me the most to this book was the title itself, “mythological Monolougues” as soon as the recommendation flashed on my screen I knew I had to read this, being an Indian none of us have not been introduced to the mighty hindu mythology epics like Ramayan and Mahabharata, which are long stories of the lives of several charecters revolving around a central theme, while the Ramayana focuses on the lives of Ram, Sita, Lakshman and Hanuman , and the Mahabharata revolves around the lives of the pandavas and draupadi. Both these epics still contain various other charecters, with numerous layers to their personalities, while reading the epics it is very easy to ignore them. But Purba Chakraborty, in her collection “Mythological Monolougues” brilliantly gets all these charecters the famous ones and the not so famous ones alive, in our living spaces. Tired of the singular narratives that the epics have assigned them, purba’s version of the monolougues by these charecters is a r...

Vitamin H Volume 2 book review

Image
My Review- "There is more treasure in books than in all the pirate’s loot on Treasure Island.”–  Walt Disney Is a quote that very well fits this tremendous collection of thoughts and quotes by Abhishek Vipul Thakkar, i read part 1 of this collection on a recommendation by a friend and i totally loved the 111 quotes from the part one of this book.....i read that part during the lockdown when the regularity and mundaneness of daily life had gotten really depressive. The author had placed those 111 quotes as per days ...which really worked well to serve the purpose of the name of the book, it was the much needed vitamin of hope and happiness at a time when it was truly a blessing. Since then i had eagerly been waiting for the next part of the book. And this collection just prooved to be way more amazing, all the quotes not only leave a positive message deep enough to think upon through day....but also beautiful enough to touch the soul...it is inspiring...it is motivating ......

The Land of Green Gold

Image
Kuchh Allahabad mein saman nhi bah-bud ke Yaan dhara kya hai ba-juz akbar ke aur amrud ke These are some very famous lines of the Urdu poet Akbar Allahabadi and as one can make out, here we are going to talk about the very famous allahabadi amrood (guavas). Allahabad has long been known as “the city of sangam” and “the city of green gold” ; guavas rich in pectin, vitamin a, c, folic acid and various other nutrients are also known as the poor man’s apple. Beautiful and vibrant in colour and deliciously sweet guavas are the pride of Allahabad. India is a country of diverse cultures, states, lives and people yet the country stands unified with each aspect coming together like sugar in milk. Each city and state has its own specialty and that is how we identify with them since our childhood, be it Allahabad ke amrood (guavas  from Allahabad), Nagpur ke santre (oranges from Nagpur),  bambai ke hapus(alphanso from Mumbai). Although with technological advancement...

Book review - Maza - Ma - Maza by M.M Khan

Image
About the book- Maza Ma Maza   - Let by gones be by gones . It is a collection of Poems in Hindi and Urdu Languages which has been written by Poet M M Khan. My Review - This book is a collection of urdu poetic verses in the forms of nazm and ashaar. The poetry is particularly based on human life, and the poems describe the different aspects of life that a man experiences during a lifetime, but it will be an injustice to call it only a collection of urdu poetic verses. The writer has very intricately woven life experiences into stories which later on unfold into 37 different nazms and 910 ashaars, it is said that urdu is the language of the angels. This book is a collection of life experiences woven in the beautiful language and decorated further with poetry, Maza Ma Maza very simply and beautifully depicts in complete detail every aspect of society, to name a few would be, treating all religions as equals, important aspects of daily life such a...
